Multi-user full version – upgrades (from two users)

What this is about

After an upgrade, the old version is not kept in addition to the new one. A multi-user license has exactly one serial number. An upgrade converts that serial number to the new version and to the number of users ordered. The previous authorization code for this serial number becomes invalid.

How a multi-user license is identified

RagTime multi-user license consists of one serial number, one product version, and a number of concurrent users.
Example:

• Serial number: 1092345
• Users: 5 (no more than 5 at the same time)
• Product version: 6.6

There is only this one serial number per multi-user installation. It applies to a specific version and a specific number of concurrent users. The software may be installed on any number of computers in the company. Only as many people may use it at the same time as there are licensed users.

What happens on an upgrade

The serial number stays the same. The version changes, and the number of users may change. You receive a new authorization code. A second license is not created.

Example 1: RagTime 6.6 with 5 users → RagTime 7.5 with 5 users

Serial number 1092345 then applies to RagTime 7.5 with 5 concurrent users. The previous authorization code for 6.6 must no longer be used.

Example 2: RagTime 6.6 with 5 users → RagTime 7.5 with 2 users

Serial number 1092345 then applies to only 2 concurrent users under RagTime 7.5. The old authorization code for 5 users under 6.6 is invalid. The remaining users can be upgraded later with a further order. They must not continue to work with the old code.

Example 3: RagTime 6.6 with 5 users → RagTime 7.5 with 1 user

The multi-user license becomes a single-user license for RagTime 7.5. The previous 5 users and the old authorization code must no longer be used. The remaining users can be upgraded later with a further order. They must not continue to work with the old code.

Please note

• After the upgrade, the old authorization code for this serial number must no longer be used. This also applies to computers that are still running the old RagTime version
• The new authorization code must be entered on every computer that uses this serial number
• The new authorization code also works with older RagTime versions, for example 6.6. Not every computer has to be updated to 7.5 immediately. The code must still be the new one everywhere
• Mixed use of the old and the new authorization code for the same serial number is not permitted
• If several people are still to work at the same time after the upgrade, the upgrade must cover at least 2 users
• Reducing the license to 1 user converts it into a single-user license
• The program version on the computer and the license version are not the same thing. Older program versions may continue to run with the new code. The old license entitlement may not continue to run

In short

The upgrade replaces the previous entitlement of this serial number. It does not add a license that may be used in parallel with the old one.
