RagTime 64-bit version
We are working full-scale on the 64-bit version, which is expected to be ready by the end of summer 2021.
Dear RagTime client,
Welcome to the latest information from the world of RagTime. Enjoy the news!
Your RagTime.de team
Status of the RagTime 64-bit version
Unfortunately, the development of the 64-bit version of RagTime, which will support the Mac operating systems Catalina and Big Sur, still takes some time. Extensive adaptations of the APIs need to be made. The migration to the 64-bit version for Windows, on the other hand, is now as good as complete.
We feel deeply sorry that we are not done yet – despite the Covid-19 crisis, we have been working on the 64-bit version for macOS throughout, and we will complete it!
Until then – what are the alternatives?
- Do not upgrade to Catalina/Big Sur
- Run RagTime in a VM environment: Parallels or VMware Fusion running macOS up to Mojave (10.14)
- Use RagTime under Windows
The RagTime 64-bit version is expected to be available by the end of summer 2021.
Further background information
Not only Apple has switched its macOS to 64-bit but also dropped a large part of the APIs used by RagTime. We have been working on this for many years and have already completed most of it. One subsystem still needs to be changed, and all bugs/side effects have to be fixed. Only then can we start beta testing.
We are confident that current and future macOS versions will run as usual with the new RagTime 64-bit version. We are also working on native ARM support for the new M1 Macs and do not expect any problems there.
We continue to develop with the highest priority so that our customers can continue to use the latest Mac operating systems in the future.
We will publish upgrade prices as soon as we are ready to deliver. But we can already assure that all RagTime 6.6 customers will benefit from an introductory offer rewarding them for the long wait.
Tip for RagTime customers who still use the old RagTime versions 6.0 and 6.5:
We recommend upgrading to RagTime 6.6, which is compatible up to Windows 10 and macOS Mojave (10.14). This way you can already use RagTime 6.6 and benefit from the introductory offer for the 64-bit version
